Module quang Cisco SFP GLC-T là module quang điện RJ45 cho môi trường truyền dẫn cáp đồng CAT5E / CAT6 với tốc độ truyền dẫn là 10/100/1000 Mbps, khoảng cách truyền dẫn tối đa là 100m, sử dụng đầu kết nối RJ45, Module quang SFP Cisco GLC-T hỗ thay thế nóng, điều đó có nghĩa là cho phép bạn thay thế, cắm SFP GLC-T vào các thiết bị chuyển mạch (Switch), thiết bị định tuyến (Router) của cisco mà không cần phải tắt thiết bị hoặc khởi động lại thiết bị, mà thiết bị tự nhận và active để hoạt động luôn khi SFP GLC-T được cắm vào.
SFP GLC-T được dùng để thiết kế mạng LAN với các khoảng cách truyền dẫn trong phạm vi 100m, ví dụ như: giữa các tầng trong cùng một tòa nhà. Với tốc độ truyền dẫn 1G cáp đồng do vậy chúng ta có thể sử dụng GLC-T để làm uplink truyền dẫn dữ liệu tin cậy cho một phần vùng / một nhóm user (người sử dụng) với số lượng là 20 – 50 users.
Nếu Transceiver GLC-T được dùng làm uplink cho việc truyền dẫn các tín hiệu Video như IP Camera, Hội Nghị Truyền Hình hay IP Tivi thì GLC-T có thể truyền tải dữ liệu cho khoảng 433 IP Camera HD (720p), hoặc là 325 IP Camera Full HD (1080P).
